You can connect straight to Kinkiizi from Entebbe International Airport instead of 12 hours journey from the capital by bus, you can take one hour's flight with Aerolink to Kihihi (40km away) and the fares are relatively cheaper when compared to hiring a vehicle for the road trip.

Bus Directions from Kampala to Kanungu
1. Kampala-Kanungu-Butogota Bus
The Kampala-Kanungu-Butogota buses (Muhabuura/Marlin), which leave Kampala at 4:00am/5:00a.m and they both reach Kanungu between 4:00pm-500pm. (advisable to be in the bus park at 4:30a.m to board Muhabuura). Muhabuura bus also does night trips alternating with High way buses and normally leaves Kampala at 7:00 p.m and reach Kanungu at 6:00 a.m in the morning. Transport from Kampala to Butogota is Shs.50, 000 on normal days, but may increase on holidays such as Christmas and New Years.
2. Kampala - Kihihi Bus
The Kampala - Kihihi bus (Savana & Starlink). This bus does day and night journeys. Day journey, the bus leaves Kampala at 5:00a.m and reach Kihihi at around 2:30p.m. Transport is 40,000 on normal days. The night bus passes via Kanungu Town but the day will take you direct to Kihihi where you will need a taxi to take you to Kanungu.
Driving Directions to Kinkiizi/Kanungu
It takes a minimum of 6 hours drive from Kampala to Kanungu. Set off from Kampala to Masaka through Mbarara to Ntungamo Town, then Rukungiri. From Rukungiri, you will drive on a murrum road to Kanungu Town which takes about 1 ½ hour drive. The Diocese of Kinkiizi office is about 1km on Kihihi road from Kanungu Town.
